MD/DC to JFK
 

Does anyone know of any cheapish transportation that goes from MD/DC directly to JFK airport?

I can save a lot of money if I fly out of JFK instead of BWI or a DC airport, but since I will be carting a lot of luggage around (I'm leaving for a year), I don't want to have to worry about going into the city and then transfering to the airport.

Did you think about a one way car rental (try Hertz or Avis ) from your location directly to JFK airport. That cost of $ 100- 125 for 1 day is about as inexpensive as anythig you will find directly to the airport.
Don't know of any bus line directly seving JFK without transfering at Port Authority bus terminal in NYC.

I inputted a one way rental from DCA to JFK thru Avis with no coupons or discount codes -- rate of $83.73 came up, plus gas & tolls. With lots of luggage, that's the way I would go. ((b))

I think you are being penny wise and pound foolish.

Even if you save $500 in airfare, amortize it over one year. That's $10 a week. Will you really miss $10 a week?

Because multimodal transport and/or a 5 hour drive is going to give you some bad, bad memories.
