mclaurie, anyone information on Wyndham Garden Hotel NYC

mclaurie, anyone:

Making another quick long weekend visit to NYC.

Any information on the Wyndham Garden Hotel located on West 36th Street. Rate is good on travelzoo. Some of the reviews indicate small rooms and one questioned the gerneral safety of the area after dark.

Others on my short list this time:
Park South Hotel
Murray Hill East Suites
Shelburne Murray
Eastgate Tower Suites

Thank you for any information or thoughts.

Sandy

It's very quiet on the streets over there but as safe as anywhere else in Manhattan. My only complaint with the location is that you are too close to the entrance for the Lincoln Tunnel, but I know lots of people who live over there and have never had a problem with crime.

All the other hotels you mention are in much more central locations, so if the prices are better, I like the Shelburne (which is undergoing a renovation right now ... so some rooms might still be old-style) and Murray Hill East (great location).

The area is safe but very dreary. With so many great deals out there now I would look for a more pleasant location.

It's new but very far west with small rooms. The Shelburne is newly renovated and a better location. There was a sale on all the Affinia hotels but it ended today I think. Have you looked on travelzoo.com and quikbook.com?

Doug, nytraveler and mclaurie:

Thank you for great information. Exactly what I was looking for.

Booked the Shelburne Murray. The cheapest price was on hotels.com (it was also listed on quikbook.com and travelzoo.com)

With all the great offers on hotels
I had to remind myself not to over think the process.

Can't wait to see our darling little twin grandson's.
