Attending a convention in October at McCormick. Rooms are sold out. Never been to Chicago, need help with 4 star hotel close to convention. Nice area a must and quality hotel.
Thanks

I wouldn't worry about staying near the convention center if it is that big of a convention. If it is city wide, they will provide shuttle service to and from McCormick Place. I would stay further up Michigan nearer the Mag Mile.

The closest hotel to McCormick, except for the on-site one, is the Hilton Chicago & Towers. As the previous poster said, the show is likely to have shuttle service. So, check and see what other hotels are on the list for your particular event. If there are no shuttles, then you'll have to take a cab. There are no other decent hotels within walking distance.

There are no "4 star" hotels close to McCormick...so that makes the answer simple. If you want a nice hotel, you'll need to stay on north Michigan Ave.
The Peninsula was rated the #1 hotel in the USA in the 2003 Zagat Survey.
For some reason it isn't even listed in Fodor's (last time I checked). It's 2 years old now so there's no excuse for that kind of oversight.

That area around McCormick Place is kind of depressing....surrounded by interstate ramps and 4 lanes of Lake Shore Drive....I agree with the others, you may want to stay in the North Michigan Ave area or River North. Much more to do in your off time.
