May or Nov/Dec for Disney?
We are deciding whether to do to Disney in May or wait until between Thanksgiving and X-mas to go. I know the waterparks aren't open in Dec but I ahve also heard there are no lines after after Thansgiving.
Can anyone recommend which time is better to go based on perosnal experience (we will be taking a 5 year old and a 7 year old). Are there better deals at one of these times vs. the other? Thansk!! |
Which park?

That is: DisneyLAND or DisneyWORLD?

In my experience it is empty between Thanksgiving and Christmas and the parks are really nicely decorated for Christmas. May is nice as well but has a few more crowds but not crowded-the weather is more reliable then for heat though.

Assuming you mean Disney World, I would recommend the period from Thanksgiving to Christmas. According to everything I've read in the Unofficial Guide and the Official Guide this is the slowest time of the year. Plus the parks and hotels are decorated to the hilt with Christmas decorations. Parks will not be crowded with the exception of the special opening for Mickey's Christmas Party at the Magic Kingdom.
I've been there at the beginning of Nov and we did not experience many crowds at all. We were also there last Feb during President's Week which is a huge peak time. We had no issues with lines - waited 20 minutes at most for a non-Fast Pass attraction. The Fast Pass program has greatly reduced the long lines in my opinion if you know how to use it right. Go to Disboards.com for more details. Also check out wdwig.com for pictures of the resorts decorations at Christmas. Have a great time. Great ages for a Disney trip. |
I've been to Disney in November, and it was great. Short lines, great temps. Warm but not sweltering heat. We stayed at the Polynesian and even went down to the "beach" one afternoon. I'd definitely opt for the Nov/Dec trip.

I agree that between the holidays would probably be less crowded and it would be great to see the decorations. However, I enjoy the water parks as much as the other parks and would not go when they were not open. (I admit I am a water loving Oregonian without any water parks within a days drive). So I didn't help one way or the other but if you have water parks close or your kids aren't water kids then it would help to lean the other way.
Have a great time whenever you go! |
Have been numerous times the first week in December. It's fantastic. The only time I will go there. Most rides you just walk on. It's almost always still short's weather also. Very pretty with the holiday decorations. Have fun!
