May climate in Outer Banks?

We have not travelled there before. Will it be too cold?

shouldn't be, although the water will likely be too cold for swimming unless you are a polar bear

It all depends upon Mother Nature. We were there (Duck) one Memorial Day week and it was nice - mid-70's. Another Memorial Day week it was cool. We had to sun ourselves in between the dunes to keep the chilly wind away.

Either way, unless you are a child, the water will be too cold. Never seems to bother the kids.

The later in the month you go, the warmer the weather.

I have a cottage in Kill Devil Hills. It depends on what you want to do while you are there. It's definitely warm enough to sun on the beach. The water might be chilly. There's always a lot of things to do. You can climb the Hatteras lighthouse at that time, or visit one of the many other lighthouses there. It's a beautiful place.

I do know that people are already laying in the sun on the beaches. Right now, the whole East Coast is having some wierd weather, but I think that last week it was about 80 degrees there.
