May 27 Boston Swan Boat Engagement

I am looking for a couple who became engaged on a Boston Swan Boat on May 27 at about 3:30. While videotaping from a bridge, I inadvertently filmed the end of the proposal and thought how nice it would be for them to have that film. This is a long shot, but worth a try.

Aw, how sweet (esp. amid the onions on some of the other posts). I really hope you find the couple -- hope you are willing to write a letter to the Boston Globe and possibly one of their TV stations.

Any of you Bostonians out there -- got any other ideas? Can you help?

The Improper Bostonian (a free weekly magazine) has a section in the back called "improper personals" where you can put requests such as yours in.
http://www.improper.com/
Good Luck!

I would get intouch with the company that runs the swan boats and see if their PR firm can help with getting the word out, it's great PR for the swan boats and might be fun for the couple too, who knows maybe they can even arrange the wedding, you just never know.

Good luck and hope you find them.

tweedy

What a neat story. You have to keep us updated about this one.

Thanks!
I am still hoping to find the couple. Have also left a message on the AOL Boston message board. My guess, though, is that they are not from Boston, and have no reason to check those boards if they have just been to Boston. I am afraid if I do find them they may be disappointed with the footage that I have. It is very brief, but long enough for him to prove he actually got down on one knee to pop the question.

Boston TV is a great idea:
WBZ Channel 4 (CBS) www.wbz.com
WHDH Channel 7 (NBC) www.whdh.com
WCVB Channel 5 (ABC) www.bostonchannel.com
WLVI WB56 www.bostonswb.com
WFXT Fox in Dedham (not sure of the link)
The Boston Globe and The Boston Herald are the 2 major newspapers.

Try e-mailing the folks at www.boston.com and see if you can get a posting there...I live in Boston and think it's one of the more commonly used sites for Bostonians. Good luck!

Don't assume they were from out-of-town, could easily have been locals or former students in local schools -- Bostonians have a special place in their hearts for the Swan Boats.

Moreover, if you get a local TV station involved, it might get picked up nationally. (They might even buy your tape.....)

Try contacting the hotels near the public gardens where the wedding could possibly have taken place. The Four Seasons and Ritz Carleton are the two I would try.
