Max amount of money I can take to enter USA

I'm coming from Egypt and is going to USA for 5 nights then I will travel to Aberdeen and wish to take the maximum amount of money I can enter it in the airport. So what is the maximum sum I can take with me?
Thanks for help in advance

I would really really suggest you ask the US consulate. AND how you should declare it. And whether it will put you on a watch list as coming from a country that may have terrorist ties and carrying a large amount of cash. I'm not profiling--but they may.\
It has been $10,000.

There is no limit. You declare the amount of cash you're bringing in on the customs form you fill out on the plane. If it's over $10,000, there's an additional form you'll need to fill out.

Carrying that amount of cash around with you is extremely foolhardy. It is much too easy to misplace something - or have some sort of problem occur.

Not sure why you want to deal only in cash - but as noted - in the US large amounts of cash are suspicious and are required to be reported to the government. Even depositing that amount in your own bank account would require reporting to the government and a whole lot of questions.

I will go to Aberdeen after that and will stay there for more than 16 month so my trip is roundtrip to UK. So the money I have will be available in cash to open a bank account there
@ logandog I can meet you and find out what can we do with the money?

There is no limit on the amount of cash you can bring into US. You will just have to declare it on the Customs card and they may want to verify the amount. It's a good idea to declare the amount so if you end up taking much of the money back out of US, they will have a record of how much you brought in and there will be no questions asked.

Still don;t understand why carry all that money. Why not just have your current bank transfer your funds to the bank in Scotland and save yourself a lot of hassle and worry?

nytraveler has the right idea about bank transfer so you don't have to worry about having that much cash on hand. Also, for the money you need in Scotland I wouldn't bring it as US$, but as pound because you will have to pay transaction fees each time you convert it.
