Maui: Which restaurant would you splurge on?

We're going to be in Maui for one week. Looking at our budget, we want to splurge on one "fancy" meal. We're trying to figure out where we should go, though.

What do you suggest? Mama's Fish House? Pacific O? Roy's? We're open to suggestions...

I LOVE Longhi's in Lahanina. I even bought their cookbook.

It's Italian but they have a lot of local sea food. Try the Ono.

They have palms, ceiling fans and black and white tile on the floor, and windows that open up to let in the night air and to watch the sunset from. I felt like I was in Casablanca.

It's right on the main street in Lahaina.

I agree. (You will get a bunch of replies for the overhyped, overpriced, barely adequate Mama's Fish House--ignore them.)

Capische? Italian restaurant at Diamond Resort in Wailea is wonderful. Not only are the food and service great, but views of the ocean and island are beautiful!

Best meals we ever had in Maui were at I'o (next door to, and same ownership as, Pacific O). Gorgeous setting, seafood specialty. Roy's is wonderful, but not the same setting, and he has locations on the mainland.

Mama's (you can't beat the view and the food) or Nick's Fishmarket.

I agree with Amelie. - Those would be my two picks. We had a GREAT meal at Humu's last trip (a week ago...sob...) - lobster bisque and the surf and turf were perfect AND lovely setting. We also love Mulligan's, which is a little less expensive than any of the above.

We leave in a week, too!! We have reservations at Pacific'o. We ate there 5 years ago and loved it and have referred it to friends you have eaten there recently and also loved it. Great atmosphere and food! I think they have a website, too o check that out.

We went to Maui in March and our favorite of our splurge meals was at Spago. We went to the Four Seasons early enough to see the tiki lighting ceremony from the bar area, then had a wonderful slow meal at Spago. Made reservations on Open Table and requested table with a view -- and they obliged. Top notch service, food, and ambiance!

The outdoor Italian restaurant at the Four Seasons in Wailea was the absolute best in terms of a romantic view--it's called Ferraro's. Check it out at http://www.fourseasons.com/maui/weddings/dining_73.html

We had the best table in the house (outdoors) and timed our reservation for a sunset experience--check with your conceirge regarding the timing. It's above the beach, but amazing in terms of the view and ocean setting. I don't know if it helps to have the conceirge book the table for you, we went that route and I think got a better seating than if we called ourselves. They had this awesome duo (violin and cello) called Apassionata that seemed to be playing just for us. Ultimate in romance.

Was there last week and recommedn 2 places....Pacific'O was awesome, we ate outdoors and the food was great. The Sea House in Napili, view is incredible, I recommend a 6-6:30PM reservation just for the sunset. Food wasn't as good as Pacific'O though.

No one has mentioned Haillmaile General Store, so I will. No ocean views, but wonderful food in an out-of-the-way location in up-country. Love it. Capische?, Pacific O, Chez Paul and Nick's are on my radar screen for our trip next year.

I totally agree with those who posted Spago & Ferraros! During our honeymoon, we ate at Ferraro's twice and Spago 3 times! (Took a pic with Wolfgang too :-) Both restaurants at sunset are amazing.
