Maui - where is the best weather?

My husband and I are going to Maui for the first time December 1st for a week. What area has the best weather (i.e., no rain and clouds). I live in the Northwest and we get more than our share of rain and clouds so I don't want to go thousands of miles just to have the same weather, although I know it will be much warmer.

Also, I'm looking at condos in the kahana area. What do you think of this area and what is the weather like there say compared to Kaanapali? Does anyone have a recommendation of a one-bedroom condo $150/night or under? A great view is of top priority but I don't need a beach particularly.

My friend and I stayed in Kula (I think that is the correct spelling) and it was cooler in Kula! (sorry bad joke) because it is a higher elevation.
I personally like the area/towns around Lihana near the ocean.

Martym,

Thanks for the website link. It answered many of my weather-related questions.

In December, I would recommend Wailea or Makena areas in south Maui, where you get more sunshine. The winds come up in the North, so the Kapalua and Napili areas have windier, rougher water. It also rains alot in Kapalua.
The Kahana, Kaanapali, and Lahaina areas all have the same weather, which is more like north Maui than south Maui in Decemmber. You would be better off weatherwise in Kihei, Wailea, or Makena. Kula is not near any beach and I would think would be much more like the Pacific Northwest in December. Homes there have fireplaces, which tells you how warm it is.

I agree with Wailea. Lot less rain than Lahaina or Kaanapali beach.

Well, I've researched condos in Wailea (too expensive) and Kihea (very reasonably priced and alot of them)but I'm not sure I want to be in Kihea. It is not an area I had even considered before but only thinking about it now because of the weather. Is there anyone out there who has stayed in the Kaanapali area in December and had great weather?
