Mama's Fish House

On the patio at the plate lunch joint next to the grounds where Old Lahaina Luau takes place.

Toji Japanese Buffet

Mulligans for Wailea nights as soon as Barry Flanagan gets back from promoing the new Hapa CD. Willie K was fun for a while, but we miss Barry.

Tiffany's Bar & Grill for pre/pos MACC event noshing and $2 beer

DH adds, "Da Kitchen, for loco moco."

I'o in Lahaina for outstanding food, romantic oceanfront setting; Roy's Kahana Grill for great eclectic food in a "happenin'" setting; Sansei for some of the best Japanese/Pacific Rim food anywhere.

Cant remember name but the restaurant at the Wailea Gold course....go for dinner and sit outside for a spectacular sunset....enjoy is lava flow drink..........

summerinslc Apr 10th, 2005 04:31 PM

The restaraunt at the Wailea Golf Course is the Seawatch. The food is great and the view above the ocean is spectacular. Our absolute favorite is HumHumu at the Grand Wailea Hotel. The covered outdoor deck offers a beautiful sunset view.

Mama's is a wonderful place, but can't we move forward? Many people who click on this site don't know Maui at all. Let's give them some real choices. There are hundreds of alternatives. Mama's is very, very expensive

jill777 Apr 12th, 2005 05:09 AM

Kobe's steak restaurant, this was one restaurant that I didn't even plan on going to but the steak-bennihana's style was very tender and delicious and price was reasonable, will not return to Hula Grill, restaurant was all hype

Safeway supermarket for a couple different flavors of poke, fresh tropical fruit, some good cheese and crackers, a cold bottle of sparkling wine, and a beach-side view of the sunset. A quarter the price of Mama's Fish House with better ambience.

Mulligans - didn't go on Wailea nights but loved the food and the view

Mama's (sorry to those that think it's overrated or expensive, but I bet I won't get back to Hawaii until my 10th anniversary)

Possibly Nick's FIsh Market

Kihei Cafe for breakfast

Lelani's

I would definitely skip The Gazebo, and Cheeseburgers in Paradise.

Kaymit Apr 12th, 2005 02:05 PM

Nick's Fishmarket Grill in the Kea Lani Resort in Wailea WOW!

Boxer Apr 12th, 2005 02:31 PM

RETURN TO FOR SURE
1. Sansei (fun AND excellent food)
2. The Gazebo (sandwiches like Mom would make with a KILLER view)
3. Hula Grill (to pick up another logo sweatshirt (so cozy and bright and happy), not for the food)

NO RETURN (EVER)
1. Roy's (felt sick after eating there) and found it way too commercial ("where do you live?? did you know there's Roy's in ******** you could go to?" NO thanks.
2. Maui Tacos (Napili Plaza). Fish tacos were dull, dull, dull - salsa bar was disgustingly unappetizing ... not replenished and slopped everywhere .. staff were disinterested and sullen.

CindyA Apr 12th, 2005 06:39 PM

David Paul's Lahaina Grill
Roy's Kahana Grill
Plantation House

pspercy Apr 12th, 2005 07:04 PM

Bubba Gumps in Lahaina (no kidding); honest value, right on water (try & sit by a window), pleasant staff and reasonable price. We usually go for late lunch.

Would NOT return to Longhi's in Lahaina, irritating spoken menu, too expensive, food so-so.

Intend to try I'O or Pacific 'O next trip and possibly Plantation House or Gerards.

We live in a big city and have plenty of good places locally so on Maui usually rent condo and save money on meals out.

gyppielou Apr 12th, 2005 07:50 PM

Always go to Hula grill for wontons, entertainment, sunset and a tshirt, or golf shirt or whatever mrlou can hide from me till we get home.
Always go to Hailimaille General Store for 2 Nepolean Sashimi Towers.....yummy day or night, and shop the walls for a momentums, like our fabulous ceramic fish.
Always stop by Hana Hotel for wasabi fries and a cocktail.
Always share a fish eggs benedict at Hotel Hana
Always stop by Charlies for bfast and order the refried bean tostada with brown rice,salsa,cheese...have no idea what mrlou orders, and eat about a 3rd of it!!!

Somebody just can't get enough attention talking about Maui. Did the relatives get sick of looking at the photos?

kunnasch Apr 25th, 2005 11:33 AM

On the high end, I will definitely go back to Mama's Fish House.

On the low end, Paia Fish Market was the best fish burger I have ever tasted.

bebe0711 Apr 25th, 2005 11:52 AM

sorry I was'nt finished!

We also loved Sorrento's in Kihei.

Have not been to Maui since June last year, but miss it and the fish so much! Have a great time!

We really did not care for any restaurants in Lahaina. We found them to touristy and commericalized.

texaskim99 Apr 25th, 2005 12:03 PM
