MAUI UNDER $110

Can anyone recommend a nice place to stay in Mahui,
near Lahaina, that is under $110 a night. We would
like something on the beach, clean and bright
room. Simple is ok, as long as it isn't dumpy.
Pefer landscapped area. Is this asking for too much
much for the money? Has anyone ever stayed in
Napili BAy?

Find a realtor who can rent a condo for a weekly rate---there are some very nice ones in small towns on Maui---I don't think $110 per night is too little but it's been a while since I've been there. Napili is supposed to be good, but never stayed there. We used to stay over near the Blue and Orange golf courses at Wailea and rented a 2 bedroom condo--don't think it was awfully expensive. The pricey resorts are on Kaanapali Beach, north of Lahaina and Kapalua Resort. Call the Maui Islander in Lahaina and ask what their current rates are--it's a modest but clean and pleasant hotel complex in Lahaina. Also call Condominium Rentals Hawaii at 808-879-2778 and ask about condos in Kihei---it's very built up, but less expensive than Lahaina and beautiful beaches. Eat at the Island Fish House in Kihei--great fish.

I have stayed twice in Napilli in condos @ Honokeana Cove and found them very good. I do not know their current prices, but they were reasonable both times I was there. Napilli tends to have occasional showers that never pass over the Southern part of Maui, the above message suggested Kihei which I also think is not too expensive. An alternative if you want a very quiet week would be to check out Molokai; quiet, beautiful and less expensive than Maui.

Outrigger Hotels has a lovely condo property at Napili. Marc Resorts also has several properties near there, such as the Paki Maui just north of the Kaanapali area. I mention these two companies as they accept the Entertainment card or Half-Price Hotel card- and you can get one of thir beautiful rooms at half price if there are rooms avilable for the time you are going. And neither require you to wait until 30 days before your arrival date before they will take the reservation at these bargain rates. As a special bonus, all the reservations agents at both chains are helpful and pleasant--not the case always. Aloha and have a great time.

Honokeana Cove has four small buildings of condos that face the ocean (beautiful view) and are situated around a nice pool. Most of the guests are return guests and there is great snorkeling and large turtles who pop their heads up all during the day. The one bedroom units are probably within your price range. Ask for an upstairs unit (better view and more privacy) Their phone number is (800) 669-8777. Maui Kamaole in Kihei runs $103 for a garden view room and $113 for oceanview. It is fairly new, very nice units, beautiful grounds, has tennis courts and is across the street from the beach and walking distance to many restaurants and shopping. Their phone number is (800) 367-5242. Check the internet under Maui Condominiums. Both of these are accessible and you can see a photo.
