Maui to Pearl Harbor day trip
I need help deciding which tour is best for taking a day trip from Maui to Pearl Harbor next week! We leave Friday and I am still trying to plan it. Are there any that aren't 10 hrs?

Just adding up the time it would take you to do it on your own -
Leave your Maui hotel, drive to airport (30 minutes estimated) Check in and get through security (1 hour) Board (30 minutes prior to flight) Flight (1 hour) Deplane, get car, drive to Pearl Harbor (1 hour) Pearl Harbor, including the Arizona (assuming you have a pre-booked time) (at least 2 hours, more like 3) Return to airport, drop car, check in, security, boarding (2 hours +) Flight (1 hour) Drive back to Maui hotel (30 minutes) Estimate: 10-1/2 hours |
IMO skip Pearl Harbor unless you're already on Oahu. Or fly over the day before and get an early start the next day to the attraction. Throngs of tourists arrive by late morning and imo (not just mine) the experience is much less enjoyable. Go or book early morning if at all possible.

I agree with fdcarlo... To spend an entire day to get from Maui to Pearl Harbor is wasting hours and hours of travel and transit time for a comparatively short tour... So much could happen to mess up your day...
If you can fly in or out of Oahu at either end of the trip and stay overnight prior to visiting PH, Take that option and visit early in the day... If not set that up for another trip... Good luck |
DS and DGS(ten) did this day trip right before Christmas. Yes, it's a very long day, but they took an early flight from OGG and a late flight back. The only tix available for the Navy tour to the Arizona were going to make them too late for their flight back to OGG given heavy traffic (the norm in Honolulu), so they missed that. They spent hours on the rest of the exhibits. DGS was thrilled. (Tired, but thrilled.)
I was only sorry they didn't have time to get to Punchbowl. Pearl isn't 'complete' without that. |
