maui tips
Am planning trip to maui early December and need some help. We are staying @ Four Seasons
This is what I have so far.
Restaurants= Mama's fish house; Cheeseburger in paradise;pacific o's.
sightseeing= road to hana; haleakala
shopping= pa'ia
snorkel= black rock; ulua beach; palauea; south beaches.
Really need help with good (specific) spots to snorkel, and cool places to shop...not touristy.
We want to go whale watching as well. Have heard we can book through pacific whale...is that correct.
Would greatly appreciate any help with improving and increasing my list of do's.
thanks, brutus

For a local flavor try the Saturday Market in Kahului.(We did this after the sunrise at Haleakala and timing was great) $.50 admission to this fruit market/Garage sale/local crafts.
On the road to Hana stop at Halfway to Hana for great bana bread and smoothies.
Dont leave home without the blue bible!

Save some time to shop in Lahaina either before or after Cheeseburger in Paradise. We were first in line when the menu changed from breakfast to lunch and got a great table for lunch. Then we spent the rest of the afternoon window shopping thru this quaint town.

2nd the above suggestion to pick up "Maui Revealed" to find snorkel spots and places to dine, here is link:www.wizardpub.com/maui/maui.html
Many whalewatching tours depart from Lahaina Maui, here is link for Pacific Whale Org.:http://www.pacificwhale.org/
also see MR.
The dive shop in the "Shops at Wailea" near the 4S also has a guide to snorkel spots and experience level, though you may have to rent something to get it.
Ulua is closest to you, and Honolua up north was good also.
