Maui Sunset @ Kihei - Thoughts?
Staying on Maui for 5 nights after Easter. Any thoughts on Maui Sunset at Kihei?
First time to Maui. What are the "Don't Miss" spots on Maui?

we were in Wailea for 8 days last June, the sunsets are unbelievable. Kihea is next to Wailea.
Maui is wonderful, the volcano, the road to Hana, the water activities.

Mark,

My sister is staying there for a month, as we speak. They love the place, even though they're used to staying in fancy resorts. The grounds are gorgeous, and their condo is quite next for the money, not fancy, but nice. Her only complaints were dirty bed linen the first night, and stained, dirty carpet in the living room. She got a total free cleaning because of the bed (the rest of the place was fine so she took a cleaning halfway thru her stay), and they came in within a couple of days and totally cleaned the carpet to her satisfaction. Most of the units are individually owned so they will vary, but my sister is very happy in a 1 BR, 2 Bath Garden view - about $2300 for four weeks. Good luck!

Be sure to eat at "A Pacific Cafe" - Kihei, and go to Haleakala for sunrise!

Bike down the volcano--if I can do it anyone who can ride a bike can! I was in my late 40s,(and had not been on a bike in years) my teenage daughter and my husband (in his 60s) all rode and mostly coasted down the volcano. It is all downhill and not hard. Only stressful at first. Sunsets are supposed to be fab there, but it was foggy. The tour will pick you up at your hotel. It was the best thing we did in Maui.

We stayed at Maui Sunset through a timeshare exchange. We loved it! It is not upscale, by any means, but a huge expanse of green grass on the grounds. Note that the beach is more suited to windsurfing, and used for such. Fun to watch! You can spread out a blanket under a tree near the shoreline and watch. Can get windy in the afternoon. Good size pool. Many of the private owners return during the same week each year, so their families have gotten to know each other over the years--very friendly. Great view from all units. Kihei town is very island central, and sunny. Kaanapali can be humid and misty/rainy. We loved Maui Sunset, my kid was 16. Eat at the very Hawaiian restaurant at Maui Lu hotel across the way. Lesser known fact: snorkel at the south end of Maui where the (rental car) road ends, (small lava rock parking lot there). Walk across the lava (not barefoot, however!) and have the best snorkeling on Hawaii yet!
