Maui soap shop
Hi Fodorites,
I've put messages on a "gifts from Hawaii" thread but decided to post a new thread. I am looking for a handmade soap store located on Front Street in LaHaina. They also had, maybe, candles? The store wasn't large in size. Its location is down the street from the Hard Rock, on the beach side of the street, going toward the big tree in the park. I bought several bars of soap there, and now I cannot find a label so I can get more. The last bar of soap is gone! The bars come in coconut cream, tuberose, coconut mango, etc. and they come in two sizes. One size (small) sells for about $5 and the larger size is about $8.50. The wrapper appears to be a sort of handmade paper. If this sounds familiar to anyone PLEASE let me know. I want more soap! Thanks a bunch. Carol |
Hi C!
I felt like a detective and enjoyed the search, could this be it? Scarlett Lei Spa 505 Front St, Lahaina 96761 ? 808-661-1178 Description: LAHAINA. Within this day spa is a shop that sells great-smelling bath and body products. The majority of the merchandise is made on Maui, so you can be assured of local quality. Plus, you have the opportunity to capture the fragrances of ginger, coconut, and sandalwood in soaps, gels, perfumes, and other beauty products. Scented candles, potpourri, and aromatherapy oils are also available. |
Thanks, Scarlet, but alas, the looks of the packaging is not the same. At least this spa had two sizes of soap. All of the other sites I've found have just one size. Somebody has to know which store this is. I don't intend to give up... yet...
I really do appreciate your help though. Carol |
Topping....
(just in case anyone else has any idea which shop this might be) Thanks! Carol Oh, by the way, Bill from remembermaui.com emailed me to ask where I had gotten his name as a place to buy some soap. I said his site was mentioned by someone on fodors.com travel talk! I did receive his soap... it's not the same label as my original purchase on Maui in Aug but I'll still keep trying. I plan to keep what I got from him and try it out. |
Have you considered contacting another business in the area?

If you still haven't found the store by the end of the month I'll do a stroll down Front Street for you. We are going back for our anniversary and New Years.

Thanks for the replies, ladies. I'll keep looking (and asking) and will let you know what I find/don't find.
Thanks so much! Carol |

For those of you helping me, Roni has purchased what I think is the same soap (a post from the Maui gift thread)and I am seeing if I can get more information. Thanks to everyone for taking the time to let me know. I'm still waiting for my haiku soap, and I think I'll like it as well. Carol |
I have the name of THE soap!!! It's JB's Hawaiian Magic soap. Thanks to Roni, who only posted here once, but we emailed each other as we were both in a wild search for the SAME thing. I'm now trying to find a web site but having no luck. But, the good news is, I do have an address and phone # so I can make a call and order some. Trust me, this soap is wonderful!!!

Good grief! I'm glad you found it....never heard of that company so I never would have been able to give you that name!
Mele Kalikimaka. Enjoy your soap! |
wow! I'll have to check it out.

To flygirl:
If you happen to find a shop with the soap, can you ask if they have an email address or a catalog or something? I would like to get in touch. I have a phone number for, what I'd guess is, the actual soap "factory" and they didn't answer on Saturday afternoon (central time). I can try again during the week, I guess. I'm getting anxious to get my hands on some soap now that I have the right product name. Thanks! Carol |
