Maui Snorkeling

My husband and I are honeymooning in Maui for the first week of January. I am in the midst of planning our trip, and I have no idea how warm/cold it is there in January. Is the water too freezing to go snorkeling?

Maui is loved by all for it's moderate temps. The range is the roughly same all year around. GO!!

Freezing water is not the issue in Hawaii in winter, but I understand the large surf is! Be careful and do your research!

WAter temps are fab, go early in the a.m., do not go to the north/northwestern parts of the island (unless you surf), check out the southern beaches (from Wailea down to Makena--La Perouse Bay). An excellent resource for snorkeling is Maui Revealed.

I am mainly concerned with the water temperatures- how much will we be able to swim at the beach, or in a pool, if it's not heated?

Oh, dear, I think you are not getting it--the water is warm. Everywhere. Unless they add ice to their water. Or you go out into the deep blue. Warm warm warm.

Well, the term "warm" is subjective. Depends on what you're used to, I think.

One of those websites dusty listed may have reference to average water temperature.

In my experience, the water temperatures in the winter average in the mid 70s.
