maui - resort or condo
we have been investigating different pricing. both have obvious features that the other does not. do you have any recommendations for a condo near activity and/or for a resort that would offer romance for our honeymoon?

You alone really can only determine your affordable dream honeymoon. Our first trip, we stayed a Kaanapali Shores, which had kitchen, a condo in Hana, and then a cottage in Kauai. We saw the Grand resorts and have stayed at 4S,GW,Princeville and Lanai. Now we prefer condo's for more room, kitchen and bbq and average pool, as we spend most of our time on the go anyway. Check out Aloha Pualani in Kihei. We were one of the first guests to this very special property, stayed in honeymoon suite...only 6 units surrounding an amazing pool and proffesional outdoor kitchen. An oasis in Kihei, which we have grown to love while exploring all that Maui has to offer. Let us know we're you land.

thanks for the tip. i think we are leaning more towards a condo. do they have a web site?

We're going to the Westin Resort in June. Best of both worlds...resort and condo!

When I go to Maui I want to live as close to the island and its culture as I can. For me shopping in local stores and cooking my own beach barbeques makes a nice experience. That is why I have always gone condo.

We are going for our first anniversary and were debating the same thing! We decided on a condo, not only because of the kitchen, but you can get oceanfront for a lot less. We booked Maui Kai (a little north of Kaanapali Beach in Maui) and Kuhio Shores in Poipu Beach, Kauai. Best of luck. Check out www.vrbo.com for condo owners renting out. We picked our condos from reccommendations on this site and they had all the features we were looking for both an active AND relaxing anniversary. Let us know what you decide!

We went to Maui for our honeymoon last year and chose to stay at the Maui Kai condos instead of a resort and were so happy with our choice. We had a great direct ocean-front lanai that we used so much. We ate breakfast out there each morning and just loved gazing out over the water. We also enjoyed having a kitchen. Decide whether resort amenities are important to you, i.e. huge pool, luxurious accomodations, fancy restaurants on-site. No matter where you end up, you'll be happy being in Hawaii. Good luck.
