Maui Prince or Aston Wailea Resort???
 

we are considering the Maui Prince in Makena and the Aston Wailea Resort for our honeymoon in July 98. They are priced about the same but we are wondering which is better for a honeymoon. we want a nice view of the ocean from our lanai, along with a nice beach nearby. we also want a nice pool area with poolside service or swim-up bar. any suggestions or insight would be appreciated.

We spent our honeymoon at the Grand Wailea on Maui. Let me tell you this resort is just one of the best on planet earth. I don't know if the aston is the same as the grand wailea. The hotel and rooms are immaculate. The hotel staff is wonderful. The pool is the absolute best part of this hotel. There are two pools, one for just relaxation. The other has water slides, swim up bar, bar servers poolside, a tube float area. The beach is great, there are even hammocks right on the beach to lay in and watch the sunset. The resaurants are 4 star. Well I guess you get the idea I really loved this hotel and the memories we had here on our honeymoon. Again it can get quite expensive, but worth the money. Enjoy your honeymoon!

We're going the end of Feb and staying at the Maui Prince. I have heard good things about it, quiet, and good views, recently renovated. There are defintly more expensive places. What's the rate?? We're using United Coupons for 50%25 off so we can't beat the deal.

We spent one night at the Aston and several nights next door at the renaissance(was the Stouffer Renaissance). We also stayed a few nights at the Kyatt up north. The Aston is ok, but nothing that I would write home about. They discount their rooms by 50%25 most of the year. You should not expect to spend more that about 140.00 a night. The room we were given showed signs of wear and tear. Slight damage from housekeeping and such. The pool, however, is nice. It’s not the size of the Hyatt or others but the multi-level spilling water made it unique. You can find some deals out there right now. The Renaissance gave us a 99.00 rate for our stay there. This was a very nice place,(the rooms were nicer than the Hyatt at Kaanapali) but the pool would probably be a disappointment for you. I would agree with Brandi that the Kyatts are nice, but more a family resort. The Kei Lani is very nice for two. It has an adults only pool if you can get the price down.

If I had to choose between the two, then I would
have to go with the Prince. However, since this
is your honeymoon, I would have to recommend
the Kea Lani, Grand Wailea or the Four Seasons.
They are all next to each other on the same
beautiful beach. We have stayed at both the Four
Seasons and the Kea Lani. ( Four Seasons is more
expensive of the two ) We are pretty well travelled
and thought the Kea Lani was gorgeous. Each room is a suite, with two balconies, one from your
bedroom and one from your living room, with
beautiful ocean views! The bathroom was incredibly large and very elegant. Well, hope this helps. You can email me for more info......

We are planning to spend a week at the Aston Papakea
on Maui in July. We have been twice to Maui & know where we want to snorkel, shop, eat, visit,etc., and like the idea of kitchen facilities in a non-highrise property;
the grounds are said to be lovely. But does anyone have first hand experience that would confirm or belie my expecations?

I think the Grand Wailea or the Kea Lani are the best in the Wailea area, about 40 min from Lahina.

Stop in at the Hyatt to see the grounds and eat at the Swan court restaurant. The Sheraton is also a great place since they've remodeled.
