Staying at Maui Mariott this summer--got an awesome rate on an oceanfront timeshare unit. Have 3 kids and a grandma with us--any good tips on where to eat? Can we walk to the Whalers village from the Marriott???

Thanks

Yes, it's right there. Probably a few blocks from your room. There's Hula Grill and a pizza place in the village. Also a McD. There's a good Italian place off by itself across from the golf course too. On up the road past Whaler's and all the hotel chains is a strip mall with some good places too. In town we like Cheeseburgers in Paradise, Bubba Gumps, Maui Tacos.

Thanks! We will have a car, but its nice to know that the kids (young and mid teens)could walk down to grab some lunch at McD's or pizza, etc,. I've read great reviews on Hula Grill--definately on my list!

The Marriott had a good patio type self serve restaurant (deli/ hotdogs/hamburgs/pizza/etc)on the grounds which is great for kids that age. They also have a nice family friendly italian restaurant called Va Bene which I believe is open for buffet style breakfast and dinner (no lunch). We found it nice with our kids because it opens onto the beachwalk and a large grassy section where they could play while we waited for our meal. every one was happy! In regards to hula grill, it is one of our all time favorites in Kaanapali. This time round my little girl was sick one night so we actually ordered take out from them and brought it to our lanai. I know you can always just get room service, but it was fun! You will enjoy the Marriott, we stayed there 2 years ago when they had just opened the new pool. It is really fun for the kids. Have a great time, Aloha

Alohamom is right about the cafe at the Marriott. It's really quite good. The turkey on foccacia is outstanding and they have the regular kid fare including pizza. You can have stuff delivered directly to you by the poolside waitstaff too. You may find yourself eating your lunches here instead of trekking down to McDonalds.

Hula Grill is fun when eating outside.

Va Bene is an outstanding restaurant for dinner and if you time it right you can hear the entire luau during your dinner!

We stayed at the Marriott in Nov and the kids had a great time. Enjoy yourselves!!!!

The beach is good. Not quiet gentle lapping waves but rolling large ones. Hard shore break for body surfing and boogie boarding. We were at the Hyatt in March but had previously stayed at the Marriott so we knew the beach in front of the Marriott was better and always ended up walking to it instead of staying at the Hyatt stretch of beach. Kaanapali is great for walking at sunset as it is so long, and then you can follow the boardwalk back.
