Maui/Kauai for 7 Days
Two seniors have 7 days to see both islands. Need suggestions for time allocations at each island. 3/4 days or 5/2.
Mainly sightseeing/snorkling and 2-3 mile hikes. |
The customary recommendations are one island for seven days. There is enough to do on either for a week.

Pick one island and don't waste your time transfering between islands with only 7 days. Have a great trip.

I agree with Marginal. It's tough to see both isalnd in a week. I would choose one. You can't go wrong with either one, though if I could only choose one, I would probably go to Maui because it's smaller size makes it a little more doable in a week.

Maui is bigger than Kauai. I would also go to Maui as there is more to see & do there. I agree with the others that with 7 days (6 nights?) one island would be best. Lots of info including sites with free brochures for all islands. http://fodors.com/forums/threadselec...p;tid=34812564 |
I agree that with 7 days i would stay on only one island. One could easily fill 7 days on kaua'i with sightseeing, snorkling, and hiking. 8-) However, if you definitely want to do 2 islands in 7 days: do 3 days on the first island, on the 4th day you will spend about half the day getting to the other island, renting car, getting to hotel etc. That leaves 4 nights (3 and a half days) on the second island. Arrival and departure will shave off hours on the 1st and 7th days as well.

We went to Maui for our honeymoon and spent 9 days there; there's loads to see and do.
