maui kapula bay

We are spending our honeymoon in Maui in August. Just wondering how this hotel is as we are booked there. I know that they are planning on construction in 2006, so I more concerned about the upkeep until then. Thanks.

Read recent reviews for the Kapalua Bay Resort on tripadvisor.com. The resort is not as upscale as some but is situated on a lovely bay.

Great beach and grounds. Rooms are nice, though a bit dated. Town homes/houses all over the place.

It's being turned into a timeshare, so don't expect room remodeling or splendid upkeep. The bay is very close and pretty. With the Ritz-Carleton next door, this hotel is beginning to look dated and old. I'd chose the Ritz-Carleton as a much nicer hotel.

If the Kaupalua Bay is old and outdated, Oh, bring "old and Outdated" to me anytime!!
We stayed there this past May and it was absolutly wonderful.
You are greeted with leis upon your arrival, the lobby is open-air with a georgous view to the water. The rooms were beautiful, with large double doors. In our room, there was a CD player, complete with a CD of Hawaiian music. The bathrooms had white terry robes, and a little surprise each night (not a treat or anything like that). The whole place was charming.
There are massages given on the beach (for a fee) a lovely lovely pool area, and each day there are classes you can take. (whatever you do, don't miss the Hula class). I can't imagine a more relaxing, wonderful place to honeymoon.
I wish you a very wonderful time and life together.
