Maui Kai and Kuhio Shores comments needed!

Through the help of various fodorites, we have narrowed it down to these two condos and will spend a week in each (#402 at Maui Kai and on the 4th floor at Kuhio Shores).

Just need a last confirmation that these are nice condos, have great views and most importantly are in/near fun areas for late 20 somethings. This is our first trip (and our first year anniversary) to Hawaii and I am a little nervous booking because I want to make sure we picked the best area/condo for our budget!

Thanks!

Wow Jenna those two are really different from your last group that included very nice places like the Marriott's Timeshares on both Maui and Kauai.

Both the Kuhio Shores and Mui Kai are basic condos with limited amenities though both are ocean front. No pool at Kuhio Shores and it's only next to Beach House restauarant but you'll have to drive every where else.

Maui Kai is close enough for an easy drive to Lahaina for some nightlife for 20 somethings.

Suzie--I know BIG difference! Unfortunately the timeshares were all booked for October. They told us for Hawaii you need to book sooner than now. Being newlyweds (and after having a 3 week honeymoon in Italy) we can't really bite the bullet and fork out over $200 a night for 2 weeks.

Oh well, we'll plan ahead for using the timeshare next year. Thanks for your comments.

JennaJ, I'm sure you've read my posts on the MauiKai. We love that place! However, we prefer the corner units as it makes it feel more airy and spacious. We love unit 601! The sunsets are the best on the island. You won't be disappointed! You might want to take a pair of binoculars with you too! Have fun!

Jenna,
I went to the Suite Paradise site and found that you can get into Kiahuna Plantation, which is in a great location on a fabulous beach, and a convertible for $185 per night. Since I only know that you are going in Oct I put in Oct 10-17 and there were tons of other possibilities at many prices. You might want to try this for yourself and see if you can get a nicer place that Kuhio Shores. Coworker 50+ yo loved Kuhio Shores but did not care about no pool or beach. Suite Paradise gives you a discount for booking online. Just thought I'd give you other options.

Thanks Suzie and Carole!

Hi Jenna,

I'm guessing if you have done any searches here you have seen my posts about unit #402. I agree with Carbogilligan that the corner units are nice but you can't beat the price of #402. $125 ocean front is amazing.

Feel free to contact me with any questions about #402 but I'm guessing Sandra has taken care of everything.
