Maui in January- rain in the forecast

I am going to Maui next week.... forcast shows showers EVERY day! Has anyone else been there in January? Does it rain ALL day or does the sun peek out every once in a while?? Oh, I hope we get SOME sun....(and by the way, yes, I am aware that it is the rainiest month of the year, I am going for a friends' wedding)

We've been in January twice, once to Maui and once to the BI. Both times we had sun and rain. In Maui we had some of the hardest rain I had ever seen and some lighter showers but it was followed by some of the most beautiful weather ever. I wouldn't stress too much over it, you can't control the weather and we found plenty to do when it was rainy. I don't know where you're traveling from but keep in mind that it's a warm rain so shopping, even beach walking is possible if you have the right attitude.

It rains somewhere in Maui every day. Somewhere will be sunny, at least part of the day, unless there is a severe tropical storm.

RELAX. Just go to the south side (Kihei down toward Makena) if it's raining. Or wait for the showers to stop. Good photo ops after the rain stops.

You are right, the weather is out of my control... I truly appreciate all your responses! Thank you so much! I am sure I will have a fabulous time! I am in Southern California... so I am spoiled by sun....although I do enjoy the rain... thanks again!

It does not rain much in the resort areas in South Maui or West Maui.

We were in south Maui in Kihei over the holidays, and had almost no rain. What little "rain" we had anywhere on the island was a light mist. South Maui is very dry. Most rain occurs to the north in the mountainous areas. In the event of any rain, just look for the beautiful rainbows!
