Maui Hotels

I am planning my honeymoon to Maui for 2/01 and would like some advice on hotel to stay at. I am looking at the Westin, Sheraton, Hyatt and Marriott. We are looking for excellent beach access and nice accommodations. Nice pools will help.

Thanks

JL

I would rate Maui's hotels as follows from best on down: Four Seasons, Grand Wailea, Kea Lani, Ritz, Hyatt, Renaissance, Kapalua Bay, Embassy Suites, Westin, Prince, Marriott
I would check prices of those ahead of the Hyatt for your dates and take the best of those 5

the marriot is in the middle of renovation and may be done when you go. its promising to have the best pools on the island and it is right on the beach. we stayed there 4 years ago and were happy but it lacked the great pools of the westin and hyatt but after renovatio who knows...

I have seen the mock up of the new
pool area and the new truly ocean front
restaurant for the Marriott. If it turns
out as nice as the mock up looks, it will be the best pool area in Kaanapali
by far as well as haveing the only truly ocean front restaurant in Kaanapali. The walk way that lines the
beach will be at the restaurants front,
not between the restaurant and the beach. Time will tell if it comes out as planned. I live on Maui and look forward to seeing the finished product.

JDP
Hi JDP
I've stayed at the Marriot a couple of times and can't wait to see the completed rework.I'm afraid that I don't understand your discription about the ocean front restaurant. How can the walkway be at the restaurant's front and not be between the restaurant and the beach? Is the restaurant above the walkway? Thanks

I am in the same situation, going crazy trying to figure out where to stay on Maui, Bart who frequents this forum highly reccommends the Marriott, which got me looking into it further, I talked to them yesterday (go into their website for the construction update phone #) it sounds like they will indeed have an incredible pool and grounds when all is done, the question is will it be done in time for your trip, the pool was suppose to shut down April 1st, and is actually shutting down today, so already that puts them 1 month behind schedule. Give them a call and see what you think. My niece stayed at the Sheraton on her honeymoon and she loved it, it's just a bit more expensive. I'm going in April so I think I'm going to take a chance on the Marriott. Other people have said as long as you have a credit card in hand and are spending money any pool will welcome you.

Have a wonderful trip.

To: Charlie

If you have walked the beach walk as it is now you know that it is between
the beach and the hotels or restaurants
correct? Well at the new restaurant at
the Marriott the restaurant will be on the beach side of the walkway, there will be nothing seperating guests from
a truly oceanfront dining experience.
If you have been to the Marriott in the past and know where Nikko's, the Japanese restaurant was, just think of if being moved forward right to the waters edge with the walk way at it's front door instead of in front of its windows. You should have a good idea of
how it will work now.

JDP
