I just returned from a stay at the Four Seasons and loved it. I would suggest you book the mountain view room (which we did not do) because all the rooms are the same size and we did not spend much time in the room. I think mountain view rooms are about $395 and they may have some packages.

jr98: I'm with JohnD if pools are important to you. If pools are not, I like the 4 Seasons. We stayed 5 nights (on the buy 4 nights and the 5th night is free). We opted for the gardenview room to make ourselves available for an upgrade which we recieved. We ended up with a huge suite with a partial ocean view room. The 4S and Grand Wailea share the same beautiful cresent beach. You can't go wrong with either. The Kea Lani is also very nice. You will be happy with any of the three.
The Grand Wailea is BIG spread out and elaborate. The 4 Seasons is elogant and more intimate, the Kea Lani is Moorish looking in design and also pretty much spread out.

I would pick the Four Seasons over the Ritz just because the weather is so much better in Wailea than Kapalua. Although Kapalua is beautiful.
We have stayed at the Fairmont Kea Lani in Wailea the past four years and just love it! Not as crowded as the Grand Wailea, and it is very elegant and inviting. Beautiful Polo Beach and great pools, and fabulous service. We have had the same room the last 3 years and the maid even remembers us!! Many of the concierges, cabana boys, maids and wait staff have been there for years. I'm always so impressed that they have so little turnover.
It is a little more spread out, but I like the elbow room. The grounds are beautiful.

We stayed at the FS for 5 nights on our honeymoon and loved it. Much more understated than the Grand Wailea as someone else said, not as elaborate pools, etc., but the room was gorgeous (we were in en executive suite, garden view), excellent food and the service was outstanding--they really pamper you.
