Maui Hill
Has anyone stayed at the Maui Hill in Kihei? What was it like?
Thanks. |
Just thought I'd give you a link to the aerial view of the Maui Hill http://www.wizardpub.com/maui/mrmauihill.html.
Been to Maui 5 times but have not ever particularly liked the Kihei area. |
Never stayed there but I dont care for Kihei either. For more inexpensive lodging try Royal Lahaina we stayed there lst year and the room we were in was recently refurbished. Great location!
|
There are usually several Royal Lahaina condos for rent through vrbo.com and they have excellent prices compared to the Royal Lahaina's own prices. A few years ago we rented a 1500 square foot two bedroom condo there (thru vrbo.com)for only $150 per night. It was the best place we've ever stayed at that price!

Do you think the Maui Hill would be OK for only 2 nights. We plan to stay in this area so we can be close to the pier in Kihei for our SCUBA dive trip. We don't plan to hang around the room too much. Thanks for your help.

For a couple of days, it's probably OK, but you might also consider looking into something in Wailea. Only a few minutes drive to Kihei and much, much nicer area.
|
Postal, I didn't know that the Royal Lahaina (in Kaanapali) had condos. Is it possible that you mean the Royal Mauian (in Kiheie)?

I haven't stayed there, but, I've researched it. Maui Hill is a condo complex managed by Aston, which has a first rate reputation. It is described as "mid-ranged." It is, by all accounts, well maintained, and offers, among other things, maid service and an activities desk. While it's not Wailea, it's a good property. Further, while Kihei has a reputation for being poorly planned and executed, the southern end, near Keawakapu Beach (above Wailea), has opulent beachfront private homes. I've stayed in condominiums in both areas, and, I believe Maui Hill compares favorably with the condominiums in Wailea, such as Ekahi or Palms.

I've stayed many times at Maui Hill and I think you will be very pleased with this property. Granted it is in Kihei, which alot of people disdain, but it is on the far end of Kihei near Wailea. Property has 1, 2, and 3 bedroom units. All units are tropically decorated and have very large living rooms and 1 huge and 1 small lanai. Even the 1 bedroom units have 2 bathrooms. The grounds are very well maintained with lots of tropical trees and flowers. The pool is quite large, one of the largest I have seen in a complex this size. There are tennis courts and a putting range on site, as well as an activity desk in the lobby. This is an RCI Gold Crown resort, which is a top ranking in the timeshare world. I think you will be very pleased with the accommodations.
