Maui Healthy Dinner Options
Does anyone know of healthy dinner options in Maui? I'd like to eat fresh fish cooked in olive oil, not butter. The same goes with vegetables. It seems like every menu I read, things are cooked in butter and cream. My other constraints are no white flour- so if it is pizza, I am fine as long as it is a wheat crust. Thanks for any help!

If you are staying in a condo, you can do some cooking yourself. That would be a partial solution to your problem.

Do you like seafood? Anywhere you go you can get fresh grilled local fish and ask for a salad instead of the sides.

Or buy your own fish and grill it with some pineapple...amazing!

Sorry...thought I was responding to the Oahu one where it didn't mention you like fish...

Grilled fish is very easy to get in Hawaii, obviously! Olive oil maybe not so much. Vegs are often steamed.

You can also try poke (po'-kay), which is cubes of raw ahi tuna seasoned with savory spices and often a little bit of soy sauce. Have it with seaweed salad. It's wonderful! Also of course, sushi is good. Lots of asian food is cooked in peanut oil, not butter.

As imaq suggests shopping and dining and then cooking in your condo is what many of us do when visiting the islands.
The raw, fresh and healthy materials are there to make wonderful meals.

You can ask for the fish not to be cooked in butter and cream, but dry grilled instead. I'm not sure you'll find much olive oil used though. Perhaps macadamia nut oil, that is more common.

Or get your own kitchen, is a good suggestion.

No white flour is easy, just don't order those things! Again I wouldn't be holding my breath though, to find pizza with whole wheat crust. Just not that common.

There's lots of incredible healthy eating in Hawaii, but I think it's easier if you go with the local products and preparations, instead of trying to match what you might eat at home.
