Maui, Hawaii
Hello everyone,

Any advice on travelling to Hawaii....

Approximately how much is round-trip airfare from the East Coast. I'm wondering if $800 is average, low or high.

Also, should I spend anytime on the other islands or stick with Maui.

Many thanks,
Natalie

I would say a little low. I will be going to Hawaii from Newark in April for the second time , and both times the airfare was about $1,000. As far as spending time on other islands, If you have more than one week, I would go to another island. If you are going to be there a week or less, just stay on one island.

My husband and I just booked flights to honolulu from Columbia, SC for $640 on Delta. Check there.

I agree with previous poster> if more than a week try The big Island! We love it. The Mauna Lani area is wonderful! We stayed at The Orchid & it was fabulous!
On Maui you'll find SO much to do you'll wish you had a month! Explore the WHOLE island: Hana, Makena, Kapalua
It's heaven! Kaanapali Beach is more "commercial" but does have some fun night spots/restaurants.
We like Roy's in Kahana, Longhi's, and the restaurant at the Clubhouse at the Kapalua Golf course. But nothing is more "Hawaiian" to me than a MaiTai at Leilani's at Sunset!! ALOHA!!

I've traveled there from Florida for as little as $600 round trip but I really shopped for airfares and was willing to travel at any time.

If you're talking out of Newark you're probably talking about Continental. I've found Continental to consistently be higher priced than United and Delta. I went to Maui from NY late Nov. and got a really excellent price of $510. on Delta. $700 to $750 is a fair price to get when there's a sale. You can do better but it's a matter of luck! I flew last Nov. from NY to Maui and paid only $375. which was fantastic.
