Maui Hawaii

We are planning a trip for 2 to Maui for 2 weeks. Can someone recommend a good place where to stay? We are looking to pay around $100 per night and a place with a kitchen. It would be similar to Sea Lodge in Kauai; it had a kitchen, ocean view (although no beach) and grill on premises. Any other information as what places to visit, good restaurants owned by locals, where to drive, farmers markets would be appreciated. Thanks everyone for input.

Well, Maui is more expensive than Kauai, generally. I think $100 for an ocean view is going to be challenging depending on when you are going. For good value, Napili has a lot of less expensive options either on or very near the beach. You might find some spots in Lahaina or Kihei. If you are young and into surfing, Paia might be a possibility. Research any places you get recommendations for on TripAdvisor for pros and cons because you need to choose carefully in that price range.

Not sure of the rates anymore - but the small studios - not right on the beach but close - at Napili Sunset might work.

Love the location and a nearby shopping center for what you need.

Check the many condos that run from Honokowai up to Napili on the west shore of Maui. Many choices, dining, shopping, beaches nearby. Lahaina and Kanapali are also handy.

Try VRBO. There are lots of condos in the Honokawai, Kahana and Napili areas. Your budget of $100.00 may be low for Maui, especially ocean view. I like Maui Kai which can be booked directly.

What time of year, and for how many people?

If you go after Easter vacation, you will probably get better rates. Friends own a condo at Maui Sands. Not sure of rates at that complex.
