Will be in Maui in January for a few days...looking for 4 top notch courses to play.
Any suggestions?

My DH have played a number of times in HI and I have to say I am jealous. Is this your first time? Maui has excellent golf. My favorites are Kapalua- Plantation and Bay, and Royal Kaanapali. I have also played Wailea. These are all homes to professional tournaments on all three tours. But if the sticker shock gets you, every course is beautiful. Last time I played Kaanapali (not the tournament course) and there are lovely views from the hills. If you haven't stayed at Kapalua, I highly recommend a condo rental. The Bay Club is excellent for dinner and the snorkeling is outstanding. You won't want to leave the resort.

The weather could be iffy in Kapalua during January but the Plantation course in Kapalua is where Tiger Woods plays (also can be considered the most expensive and the most challenging as well). The Makena and Wailea courses are other good choices. A nice course that isn't as expensive is the Dunes at Maui Lani since it isn't situated inside of a resort.

sdtravels,

No this is not my first time to Hawai'i, I have been there 60-70 times since 1988!

Almost all my trips have been to Oahu on business and, though I have been to Maui several times, I lodged this post to see what came back as the best 4 courses to play.

My buddies and I stayed at Kapalua Bay a number of years ago on a golf "bootcamp" we devised and played the Plantation, Bay, and Village courses several times.

Again, my purpose in the post was to see what the current feeling is around the different Maui courses.

Mahalo Nui Loa!
