Maui - Embassy Suites

We are planning to stay at the Embassy Suites/Kaanapali for a week in February. I have previously stayed only at the Alii. This is the first trip to Hawaii for my husband and kids. I'd love to hear from people who have stayed at the Embassy Suites ... is there a nice beach, how is the errosion there? I know the Alii's beach has suffered since I was there last. How are the rooms at the Embassy? We need to listen to their "timeshare pitch" for approx one hour. Are we in for a hard sell? We'll have three children with us - how is the pool for kids? Thanks for your help!

There are numerous reports about the Embassy timeshare in the archives.
Bottom line is that it's pretty cheap relative to its peers, but the beach there is not great, the property attracts lots of families seeking free buffet food, and the rooms are large but get a lot of wear abuse. Go there knowing that you're paying bottom dollar and be happy with what you get, but don't expect top quality rooms and service etc.

I know several families that have timeshares with Embassy Suites,in fact, one family just returned from a Thanksgiving-week visit. Both families enjoy the property tremendously. The beach is fine, not as picturesque as Napili Bay or Kapalua Bay, but its fine. The pools are nice too. Can get crowded; the chaise lounges go quickly. There is a nice water slide for the kids too. The hotel is actualy located in Honokowai, north of Kanapali but its a quaint area with a small shopping strip within walking distance. I think you'll enjoy it.

Thanks for the info! Do you know if the Kaanapali beachfront "walkway" is accessible from the Embassy Suites by foot?

It is. Barbara often takes her early morning stroll to Black Rock (in front of Sheraton) and back along the beach.
