Maui Dinner Reservations a Must?

We will be going to Maui in June. Have made a few reservations with a few popular restaurants (Mamas & SeaWatch), but wondering whether we should make reservations for almost every night, so we don't miss out! When making Seawatch reservations, they indicated that the film festival was going on at that time. How crucial are dinner reservations? Don't want to eat any chains or fast food places and have never been to Maui before. Any advice would be great. Thanks, Deb

The only other thing I'd schedule in advance is a luau. You shouldn't have trouble getting into restaurants.

You may have trouble if you want dinner reservations at sunset. I've found it works well to reserve and cancel if plans change.

We were in Maui in March and only made reservations at Nick's because we were staying at the Kea Lani. We made reservations for Mama's the same day we ate there. We weren't able to get a reservation until 7:30 but that was fine for us.

Erica;
You can go to sunrisesunset.com and see what time the sunset will be in May. I looked up sunset in June for us and it will be about 7:08 pm.

By all emans make reservations in advance if you will attempting to eat at the Seawatch during the Film Festival. During that week you'd be wise to make reservations at any location in Wailea. Not only are there many people in town for the FF, but locals are out in force, making a night of it. Plus, Seawatch is the location of several events during the festival. Pn the uypside, you'll be able catch a few films or attend an event while you are you visiting. There is nothign like watching a film under the stars at the Celestial Cinema!

For David Pauls in Lahaina you definitely need to make a reservation in advance. It can't hurt to make reservations in advance. You can always cancel them just as we did with mama's. We had planned to go there but when I heard mixed reviews from many people I didn't feel like spending 200 dinners for dinner with a limited menu. It was also a far trip from Lahaina to mamas and we didn't want to drive that far. Spagos at the fairmont was a disappointment but david pauls was unbelievably good. Have a good time

Spago at the Fairmont might disappoint. The highly regarded Spago is at the Four Seasons Maui.
