maui condos
Hi,
We've stayed at the resorts, but now we thought about a condo for a longer stay. I've been researching it on the web and I'm finding that the condo's are about the same price/nite. Am I fooling myself thinking we can stay two weeks in a condo for about the same price as a week at a nice resort?
Frank

napilisunset.com - check this out for a decent price condo. Don't forget that you can also save some $ by cooking own meals.
|
Someone is pushing the Napili Sunset over and over on this forum. Is it possible that that someone has a connection with the Napili Sunset.
|
No connection here--I, too, have recommended the Napili Sunset in past posts simply because its a very nice place to stay.

Frank,
I don't know if it's 2-1 but I do know you can save a bundle in a condo vs a hotel, especially if you eat-in a few times - just think what you could save on just breakfasts. Another point is that for anything other than a studio condo, you'll be getting the equivalent of a suite in a hotel. A negative is that condos are individually owned so you can get inconsistencies re furnishings etc but that hasn't been a problem for me (yet ?). A condo also offers better privacy than a hotel. For a long stay, I wouldn't even consider a hotel (unless I could afford a big suite), it would drive me crazy. Have a great trip.

Frank -

You can indeed save money by staying in a condo and many of them offer discounted rates for longer stays.

I personally prefer to stay in condos because there's more space - bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, living area, lanai, etc, and there is more privacy. I feel sort of claustrophic in a hotel room, but that's just me.

We stayed in a hotel the first few times we visited the islands, but have chosen to stay in condos on every trip since.

A word about Napili Sunset - I too have stayed there and loved it, but it's gotten quite expensive. There are other, less expensive options in the area such as Hale Napili (studio units though), and The Napili Bay.

Condos work especially well if you have more than 2 in your party or are planning a longer stay. For 2 weeks you should be able to get a substantial discount off of the daily rate. For me, 5 nights or longer is enough to pick a condo over a hotel for both space and cost savings.

Frank,
We stayed at the Noelani and found them to be very reasonable. Really a fraction of the cost of a resort and every unit is oceanview. The condo's were nice and has an excellent location.
Their website is www.noelani-condo-resort.com. Have a great time.
Condos, like resorts, come in two kinds - good and bad. Don't make the mistake of comparing a middle of the road condo to a high end resort.

We stayed at a very reasonable condo a few years ago for a week but did not hang around the condo much at all so it worked fine for a place to sleep. check out http://www.vrbo.com/1049 as this is where we stayed ...maui banyan. You rent direct from owner so cost is less than going through Aston who owns bldg.
|
In regard to the above post....Aston does not own the Maui Banyon...they simply manage it!!!!
