Maui...Condo to Stay (12/18-10 to 12/31-10)
Hi all.
I'm looking for a studio or 1+ bedroom condo by the water in Maui for at least a week. Any suggestions? Looking to spend around than $200/$250 per night....
Thank you!

You can see aerial views and read reviews at www.wizardpub.com (the people who publish "Maui Revealed").

Does "by the water" mean oceanfront, beachfront, across the street or just nearby?
One of my favorite areas on Maui is Napili Bay. The complexes are mostly older, low-rise places built in the 70's, but the location is really nice. The area tends to be a bit windier and cooler in the winter than the Kihei to Wailea area.
It is not my cup-of-tea, but my brother's family stays at a place north of Kaanapali called Paki Maui every year. It is oceanfront and suits them fine. It is a walk to the beach.
I really like the location of the Mana Kai in South Kihei, but it can be a crapshoot to get a well furnished unit. It might also be pushing your budget a bit. vrbo.com has listings by owner.

I highly recommend Napili Shores. I have stayed there many times and absolutely love it. There are two swimming pools and even two restaurants on property. The Gazebo Restaurant is a great place for breakfast or lunch and it's right on the ocean so the view is unbeatable! I love the fact that these are condos with full kitchens - so you can save some money by eating in if you want. There are also 4 or 5 grills on the property if you want to grill out for dinner. Also, the units have been recently renovated and they have flatscreen TVs, DVD players and free internet access.
Napili Shores is adjacent to Napili Bay - one of my favorite beaches on Maui for swimming, snorkeling or spotting sea turtles. I also love to hike the Kapalua Coastal Trail in the morning or late afternoon.
Lahaina and Whaler's Village are just a short drive - but you can easily spend your days at Napili Shores and Napili Bay without feeling the need to go anywhere else until you need groceries - but the Napili Market is probably less than a mile away!
You can't go wrong with Napili Shores!

I agree that Napili Bay is drop dead gorgeous, but, you may find the wave action overwhelming in winter. You are also picking the most expensive time of the year by far to visit Hawaii.
I stayed at the Mana Kai (Kihei/Wailea border) in the early 1990's. It is a hybrid: part hotel, part condo complex. I didn't care for it and though I revisited Maui a few times after, never went back). The beach, Keawakapu, is beautiful and great for snorkeling, though.
Enjoy your trip to paradise.

Also consider condos at Ekahi Village, down on Keawakapu Beach (at the south end - more than 1/2 mile from Mana Kai). They are wonderful and the grounds are gorgeous. You can find owner direct rentals that tend to be less expensive on vrbo or mauiownercondos.com. Enjoy your vacation.

Here's the main Aston site.

As was mentioned above, vrbo.com has listings, but they are not organized by complex, so look for the name in the listing.
