Maui condo help needed
 

DH & I will be staying on Maui for 6 nights in mid-August 2010. I've been looking at VRBO for West side condos that are on the ocean. There are many nice options but I'd like to hear recommendations from people who've been there. So, if you've been to Maui and have a lodging recommendation, I'd love to hear it! Thanks so much!

Depends on what you are willing to spend. We stayed at the Nipili Point and loved it but paid about $300 per night. We have also stayed at the Noelani condos twice which are ocean front and about $150. You can check both of these out on their web pages.

We were hoping to stay around $200/night or so. Via VRBO, I found units that fit what we'd like at Papakea, Kaanapli Shores, Makana, & Kapalua Bay Villas. There's almost too much information - I am overwhelmed. For Kauai, I had friends who recommended Pu'u Poa & found a great unit there.

Hi. I have stayed at Kamole Sands on Maui twice and found it to be a great location. Here is the link to the condo where I stayed - http://www.mauicondo2rent.com/. It is across one street from a very nice beach. It is located in Wailea and is a short drive from Lahaina.

The amount of choices is overwhelming. Puu Poa is an excellent choice for Kauai. Of course it all depends on the specific unit but odds are good. On Maui you're going to find the condo's a little more expensive, primarily because of the beach real estate situation. So be prepared and expect a unit that won't be like Puu Poa at the same budget level.

All your choices look fine, just find a nice unit, especially true for Mahana. Papakea, KP Shores and Mahana are nearby each other. The beach in front is good for walks but you'll want to drive to some other beaches for swimming and snorkeling.

Kapalua Bay Villas have a nice location - the area is lovely.

30travel: Kamaole Sands is located in Kihei, not Wailea, Maui. Pretty area.

We are staying in a really nice unit at Mahana. I found it on VRBO last year when we were staying in another unit. The owner let me go in and look at it. http://www.vrbo.com/171137.
It has air conditioning, which is really helpful in Auguat.

We just got back from Maui and stayed 5 days at the Kaleialoha #412 in West Maui. I checked and it is available in mid-August. I would highly recommend it. It's right on the ocean, there's a Farmer's Market right down the street and the place gives you the feel of home. It has air conditioning too and would be nice in August. have a great time. I'm already counting down days until my next trip there.
