Maui -- Best location

We (2 families - adults 40's - 4 kids 11-15) are travelling to Hawaii for X-Mas. This is our 2nd trip to Hawaii & 1st trip to Maui. We need recommendations on condos & the best location for our group. The condo should be located near activities & beach to keep the kids busy. Your help is appreciated.

There are two good condo complexes right on Kaanapali beach - Kaanapali Alii and the Whaler. I believe the Whaler is the slightly less expensive of the two. Both are right in the middle of Kaanapali Beach with easy access to all activities, shopping, restaurants, etc.

Ditto to the above poster---both are exactly where you want. Good Luck !!

Try The Guest House. It is a small B&B in a residential part of Lanai but that's not a bad thing. The beach is very close. You can rent the whole house if you want. There are 4 rooms/suites. We had a hot tub in our room. We paid $129 per night March 2002 & were very pleased. (Paid $395 per night at the Renaissance 5 years ago!) They are extremely laid back -- so much so that I worried that they were not competent. They were VERY good hosts and VERY competent. There is an outdoor pool. They have quite a lot of water activity gear that you can use. We had a very good experience with them & we'll definitely stay there again.

Try the Kihei Surfside. My fiance and I have stayed there twice. It is right beside Keawakapu Beach (great beach with great snorkeling), it has a pool, and a game area. It is not in the ritzy Kaanipali or Wailea area, but it is at my favorite part of the island (South Kihei).

Thanks for all your help / suggestions. Our 21 & 20 yr. old sons have now decided to join us. Will your suggestions meet their needs (night life)?

Diart, djro specifically stated that they are going to Maui and they want a condo. It is not at all helpful to recommend a B&B on Lanai - unless you are the owner of the B&B.

Those who suggested Kaanapali Beach were right on, especially for 20 and 21 year olds.

After checking the web site for The Guest House B&B I discovered that it is in Lahaina, not Lanai. It is in a residential area but nowhere near activiites and a beach as requested by dj60.
