Maui beaches for easy snorkeling

Which beaches on Maui offer some underwater life to watch not too far from the shore ?
Thanks

Honolua Bay, bit tricky to get into the water though and La Perouse Bay.

Kaanapli Beach right outside the Sheraton is Black Rock. There is limited free beach parking at the Sheraton. Looking at the back of the resort on the left side there is a walkway between the Sheraton and the next resort. Next to the walkway is the free beach parking.

Ulua Beach has great snorkeling. Limited parking is free next to the Wailea Beach Marriott. At teh beach there are bathrooms and outdoor rinse shower. we felt this snorkeling was better than black rock.

The beach that fronts the Maui Prince down in Makena was a great snorkeling spot when we there last March. We saw several turtles slong the shoreline off to your left as you face the water. There were also large schools of fish.

Black Rock at the Sheraton can be fantastic.

Napili Bay can also be great.

We liked Honolua Bay the best; found Black Rock crowded but glad we went; we also found some good snorkeling at Keawakapu which was VERY easy access right in front of the Mana Kai where we were staying (South Kihei)right before you get to Wailea.

Where ever you go, plan to go early. When the winds pick up, it gets choppy.

Thanks a lot for your answers. I was looking for a snorkelling place for an extreme beginner, the place should be quiet (at least in the morning), with sand bottom with just a few rocks.

The one at Keawakapu should be the ticket then. Black Rock is a good one too.

ULUA
Definitely quiet in the morning, a pleasant beach for tanning and laying about and excellent snorkeling real close to shore. Parking can be tough there if you don't get there early - I have had to drop off the rest of my crew and park at the Wailea shops.

Black rock is great, but go to the other side of the rock, which is not as crowded or rough.

Kamaole Beaches II and III have very easy entry with sandy bottom. First rate snorkeling at both.
Across from the Denny's in Kihei, free parking at Kamaole III Beach Park with showers and restroom. An excellent spot for beginners.

Ulua is right down the road; little better snorkeling (fewer waves) than Kamaole, lots of fish. Terrific for beginners.
