maui beach questions.....
similar to my last post, and i do apologize. my real question: are there any swimming beaches that are beautiful, with easy parking and access, and where we can rent chairs and umbrella? (anywhere between kapalua down through makena)
|
We discovered all that you're asking on our own. Why not drive around, read some books and experience life...awww....maybe I'm just an old fuddy duddy but discovering things on my own is sure fun.

I know the Sheraton in Kaanapali rents lovely cabanas - don't know how much they charge if you are not staying there. The long beach there is gorgeous. Black Rock is great for snorkeling. Short sidewalk stroll along the ocean to good food and great shopping.

I see that most of your other posts are on the Europe board.
Since you are planning a trip to Hawaii, do a couple of things to get help get you acclamated to what's there: Type in the search box at the top of the page things like: Maui beaches; parking at Maui beaches; breakfast in LAhaina; etc. You will get lots of good answers to questions already asked and answered. Then click on the DESITNATION link at top of page and read what Fodor's has to say on Maui. And finally, get a copy of MAui Revealed. IT has everything you'll need to know with maps and suggestions on how to get the most out of your trip. There are people on here who love the book series and those who hate it. I personally, found them to be of GREAT value. You can order at amazon.com - just be sure to get most uptodate version [3rd edition for MAui]. Spend some time doing research and you will have a terrific informed vacation -- and reading about all of it it half the fun and almost as good as being there! Hope this helps... Debi |
Maui Revealed is a great idea.Ritz Carlton rents cbanas down by their beach, you can valet park at the Ritz

He is searching for information. He is doing research.
The best beaches ,for swimming, snorkeling etc. and easy free parking are the Kamaole Beaches in South Kihei. Lots of services across the street. I find Kamaole III the most beautiful. |
thank you all for your help! debi, nice research and advise. maui revealed has been ordered! r u a cpa?

bodhijack,
There are loads of great beaches, from Kaanapali, Wailea, Kapalua, Makena (and the big state park near there). And there are tons of beaches along the highway, where the locals go. Get the fodors guide. |
Many of the places that rent snorkel geear also rent beach chairs and umbrellas. However,it would probably cost less to go to Costco and buy some. If you're staying in a condo, you may find that there are already some there
|
This is pretty basic, but it's a start:
http://www.visitmaui.com/beaches.html We bought my son's snorkel equipment from Costco, and DH & I rented from Snorkel Bob's (in Kihei). |
I too would advise going to KMart or wherever and picking up some cheap chairs and a beach umbrella. However, if you have a condo, first check in their storage (or ask) and see if these things are already provided for others to use. We've found everything, extra snorkel gear, grills, coolers, folding chairs, even sports and sand toys, left for our use in various condos. And we've left behind more of the same!
