Maui and what other island?
 

I am going to Maui for 6 nights and I would like to see one other island for 5 nights. But which one? Please let me know which island appeals to you and why.

I like the big island. Very different because of the volcano. Also, best snorkeling that we found. Also great coffee plantations.

The Big Island would be great.
Although Waikiki is very built up and congested, Oahu is also an excellent choice because of Pearl Harbor and the North Shore. The North Shore is very beautiful.

We loved the Big Island. We drove around the island, hiked in Volcano, stayed in the Cliff House. It was beautiful.

Big Island has lots to offer. But recommend you take the smaller commuter plane if flying direct from Maui.

If I only had 5 nights, I would choose Kauai. It's easier to see in that amount of time. We saved the Big Island until we could stay there 10 nights. But the Big Island and Kauai are our favorites (at this moment in time, anyway!) We love Maui, too, but it's a little too congested for our taste.

Thanks everyone. So it seems to be either Kauai or the big island and Maui. If you can do one thing a day for 5 days each. What would it be?

Kauai only is you have your umbrella and a shotgun for shooting the roosters.

I agree with samsaf on Kauai and saving BI for a 10 day trip. We spent 7 days on the BI, and it wasn't enough. Iamq- quit scaring people! ;)

The only problem is I won't have another chance to go. I am also concerned about the weather. We will be going from end of August into September. Do some parts of the island get less rain than others

What do you like to do?

Golf, hike, nightlife, ocean stuff? Just veg?

I have to agree about Kauai. It was my favorite island and so totally different then the others. It is a gorgeous place geographically. It is just different and you can really soak up the Hawaii terrain. I do not know about the weather at that time, but parts of the island get some ridiculous amount. (400 inches.) Of course that is the pretty part. I guess it would all come down to your interests? If you are volcano type of person then by all means go to the BI. If you love scenery go to Kauai. It is not at all conjested and I felt rather quiet. If you like more hustle and bustle then perhaps BI would work. I agree Maui to busy, to touristy, and way to windy for me.

iamq, what does the winky smiley face mean in regards to you? I find emoticons to be much more misleading than the written word.

he sho nuff scared me about Kauai. So much that I had to check it out for myself. The real icee loves it...me?, not sure yet.:-D

pup, if you are for certain going to Maui, then check out Kauai if you want to sloooooooooooow down the pace a bit.

as in sloooow down in traffic or Walmart or Cosco parking lots or basicly island time service at all the mediocre restaurants? or slow down heading to the beach cuz da rains dey are acomin'??? so many wayz to slow down at da hellhole of kauai LOL!!!!!

my daughter and son-in-law just honeymooned 6 days at Kona on the Big Island and were a little disappointed because they felt there wasn't a lot to do. They did drive around to other parts of the island.

They spent the last 3 days of their vacation on Oahu and loved it. There was a lot more to do - Pearl Harbor Memorial, Iolani Palance, great shopping, restaurants, wonderful beaches, the beautiful and rural North Shore, etc.
