Maui and Kohala Feeling

Message: Loved BI Kohala Coast - been there twice.

Is there any area of Maui that is similar? 4-5 star large properties with LOTS of acrage NOT near stores and restaurants? We don't want to be near commercial area. We are happy to drive 1/2 - 3/4hr to get there when we need it.

Do want great snorkling nearby.

Alternatively is there such an area on Oahu? (HATED Waikiki,if that helps.)

Been to Kauai - don't want to go back there.

Want to see another island with a lot to explore.

I think the South Maui/Wailea area gives a similar feeling. And Maui is a wonderful place to visit - plenty to see and do!

Agree with Crazy4HI about Wailea-Maui, and would add you might consider a stay at Hotel Hana-Maui.:S-
Saw a show on Travel channel last ((S)) featuring Turtle Bay Resort on Oahu which also looks interesting! $)</font></font></font></font></font></font>

JohnD -
Which show was that? The one where Samantha Brown visits great hotels? I'd like to catch that show when they repeat it.

Crazy4HI,
You don't miss a ((8))!!! Actually TiVo'd the SB show, and I recall it being part of the 2004 &quot;Great Hotels&quot; series. My only concern would be that snorkeling areas may be limited in size on the north shore.((?))
