Maui & Kauai in October
We are going to Hawaii oct.10-25. We are staying at the Aston Mahana Kaanapali Beach and the Aston Poipu Kai. What do like or dislike about either one? What places to eat have good quality food and pleasant atmospheres? Wee are very excited about our first trip to Hawaii.

As well you should be! On Maui fr a pricey but great dinner out try Mamas Fish House. Don't be misled by the rustic sounding name. The food and atmosphere is wonderful. Nearby the Westin (right next to it I think) is Whalers Village, which is a complex of shops and restaurants. We liked Leilanis but there are several to choose from. There are also several in Lahaina as well so perhaps do a google search to check em out. One of our favs is Jimmy Buffets place. Have a wonderful time!

Jimmy Buffet does not own the Cheeseburger Restaurants. His Cheeseburger in Paradise restaurants are in the midwest.
linbab, if you do a search here you can find many recommendations for both islands. |
The Aston Poipu Kai is made up of different condo units spread out in the poipu area. None are right on the beach. However, poipu beach is a close drive or walk away.

2nd the recommendation for Mama's Fishhouse:P in Paia, and suggest ((#))sunset((S)) dinner at nearby Beach House restaurant on ((R))Kauai((R)), A Pacific Cafe in Kapaa, any daylight meal at Princeville Hotel will provide an awesome view, and a more reasonably priced $) dining experience can be found at Keoki's in Poipu. :S-</font></font></font></font></font></font> |
Third the recommendation for Mama's Fish House. My wife and I went there for our first anniversary dinner. It was a outstanding, service and food. As an alternative to Cheesburger in Paradise, I would choose Bubba Gump's. It is same type of place down a few doors and never had the wait that Cheesburger in Paradise always seems to have.

Stayed at the Mahana last November & loced it. Beach isn't too good for swimming (coral) tho' did see scuba & snorkel swimmers as well as a monk seal. There's a Star Market a couple of hundred yatds away and a take-out deli (Okazuya) a bit further away. You might take a look at this guide:
