Maui after noon. What to do?

Our group will be having meetings in the mornings and early evenings. Our free time will be from noon until 5:30 P.M.. Our free time will be limited. We may also have some nights free after 9:30 P.M. Do you have any suggestions for the use of our afternoon freetime. Thanks.

Spend time in Lahaina - hit all the shops on Front Street, have lunch at Cheeseburger's in Paradise on Front St. You could probably get over to Iao Valley and back to your hotel by 5:30 - but traffic can be a bear through Lahaina in late afternoon if you are staying in the Kaanapoli area. Of course there is the beach!! If you are a golfer there is always that. In the Kaanapoli area there are a lot of small shops in Whaler's Village and places to eat & have a drink as well. I would not take a long drive if you must be someplace at 5:30 and as for after 9:30 in the evening I guess it is just the bars/clubs/dining in hotels. If Maui has a wild night life I don't know about it and I've been there many times!

lori, Thanks for the information. This will be a good use of our free time. Do you think we should try for some hikes.
Lisa

I have to say I don't think there is much hiking on Maui, at least not in areas you could get to easily and still be back by 5:30. You can walk up along the stream in the Iao Valley (done that myself) but I can't really think of any other places to hike around close in to the hotel areas. There are trails up on Mt. Haleakala but you will not have time for that unfortunately. It's unfortunate you will not have a whole free day because then you could go to Haleakala or to Hana. As it is I think you are going to be restricted to Lahaina, Kaanapoli, Wailea areas primarily. That's not bad tho, it is lovely there and Lahaina is a cute little town (with heavy traffic). You might consider a one (or two) hour boat ride along the Maui coast - there are a lot of sightseeing boats at the marina in Lahaina.

Snorkeling and golf and just hanging out at the beach are par excellant on Maui...

Kim.
