Maui Advice?
O.K., the dates are set: July 6-14 on Maui, then on to Oahu for hubby's meeting.
I need help with the accomodations/events planning. Thinking of 5 nights(5th night free) in West Maui..Maui Kai or Napili Bay to do Lahaina Luau and Warren & Annabelle's, snorkel, etc. Which nights would be best for these two reservations? Anything special we need to be sure to see/do on a certain night?
Then on to Hana and spend one night(July 11). Then to Mana Kai in South Wailea for 2 nights to snorkel those beaches and do the Haleakala horse ride. Leave for Oahu on July 14th.
I've read alot on the accomodations, and this is, I beleive the best for what I want to spend. REALLY want to be beachfront (and close to snorkeling areas).
Have read differing views on switching places to stay, but can't figure out how to avoid it without doing excessive driving? Am I wrong?
Please advise. OSB.

So far, I'm just having a conversation with myself and hubby!
He's weighed in at 5 nights West Maui and 3 South Maui or vice versa. I think he's right! We'll plan on doing Road to Hana from South Maui.
From the lack of responses, I assume most of you would agree this is a better plan?? OSB.

I would go just the opposite. I like Wailea area better. I guess it matters where you are staying in west Maui. Better beaches in Wailea.

Hi - the funnest thing I did the last time I went to Maui was called Maui Downhill. I didn't do the sunrise one which gets you up at an ungodly hour but the one later in the day that picks you up around 8:30am. What a blast. they take you to the top of Haleakula the dormant valcano where there is a 30 degree temperature change. You don waterproof gear and get on a bike and ride down 10,000 feet or should I say coast down. I don't believe I ever peddled once. You stop for lunch at a cute little place and finish around 3pm. I really enjoyed it and you see the best of Mauii. It costs around $100 and I believe they have a website.
If I go back again I would stay at the Radisson in Wialea - it is absolutely beautiful.

Thanks for the responses! I've just made the reservations for both places. Now have to figure out the itinerary!.
I had thought I wanted to do the bike ride, then started reading about the risks (here on fodors) and changed my mind to the horse tour. Now I'm undecided!:((.
We're staying in condos on Maui and HHV on Oahu. (Just call me cheap, I can't justify some of those prices I've seen!). OSB.
