I found the Shops at Wailea to be a little more of a "luxury" shopping place. We walked around but only really went there for the ABC Store and Lappert's when we were there. (But we didn't really go to Maui to go shopping.) As for a walk, it's isn't quite like Kaanapali where you can just follow the same path; it was like a separate mall. We never went over there at night just on a walk like we did with Whalers Village. Kaanapali is probably closer to Waikiki if that's what you're looking for.

We just came back from Maui & had 2 wonderful meals in Lahaina (MaiTai-sp-Lounge) and Kaanapali(HulaGrill) best calamari & fresh fish. Wonderful time with my family

My advice is to stay near Lahaina. We just got back from Maui and stayed on Kaanapali and spent a lot of time in Lahaina. We also drove the road to Hana. There's plenty of shopping and restaurants in Lahaina. Make sure to visit the Kaanapali area too, and do some whale watching. Have a great time!

We are staying in Lahaina in June, so excited! Is the Road to Hana a full day trip? ***kim*** ((#))

Yes, an entire day. We left early in the a.m. and got back after dark. Lots of good photo ops. Someone gave us a cd that narrated the entire trip.
