Maui - 6-7 nights too long?

Is 6-7 nights in Maui too long? I don't plan to visit any other Hawaiian islands and I am coming from Boston.

Also, a friend of mine lives in Paia who I'd like to visit. If I stay in a larger resortin Lahaina or Wailea, will Paia be accessible?

Thank you!

No and yes.

Nope, it's not too long! IMO, it's too short! We have been to Hawaii for the last 3 summers, and will go again next month. We also come for Boston, stay for 2 weeks each time, and it's never enough! We have visited all of the islands, stay for about 1 week on each, and it's a long flight! One week will be just enough time to start to relax.

A week won't be too long at all. That gives you just enough time to get the "aloha" in your blood. On our last trip we stayed 10 days and had plenty to do. Theres lots of things to keep you busy...so you can pick a few days to be really active, and a few days to relax.

A side note, we always stay at The Kaanapali Beach Hotel (kbhmaui.com). I wouldn't stay anywhere else. Highly recommended if you are looking for a hotel. It is clean, the staff is great, and it is priced reasonably. They have beautiful grounds with lots of open grassy areas and large trees to sit under and relax. Lots of hotels have no trees or open areas and just huge kid filled pools.

Depends what you like, we spent 3 of our 10 days in Maui, and couldn't wait to get back to Oahu.

But if you are talking in general as it being worth the travel from Boston to Hawaii, 6-7 nights are right on the edge in my opinion.

Don't forget the trip back is the WORST part of the trip and you loose a lot of time as a result, and possibly an overnight flight UGH!!

If you are going for R&R and you really need it...then you might want to consider something withing closer range.

I think the drive from Wailea is easier to Paia than from Lahaina. IMO Wailea is nicer, and slower than the resort area of Kaanapali. If you like more nightlife (which it's not really) go for Lahaina. I love Maui. In Lahaina the Warren & Annabelle's show was great. We finally went after people kept recommending it. It was a lot of fun. Also, Ulalena is sort of a Cirque du Soleil show about Hawaii. Oh, and if you like burgers, go to Blu cafe on Front St. Geez, I'm jealous just thinking about the blue cheese burger there... 6-7 nights, no problem. Go enjoy the sweet, fresh air!
