Maui 5 nts, where to stay?
I'm planning a honeymoon in Maui for 5nts in May, trying to figure out whether we should stay in one place for all 5 nts, or a couple nights each in two different places in Maui...if we stay in Kaanapali the whole time, is it feasible to drive around to all the sights using that as our home base?

I believe you will be staying at the most popular tourist destination on Maui and would generally would not recommend changing locations as you can drive in reasonable time to other areas, with one exception; which is to consider renting a room for a day/night at the Grand Wailea Resort so you can enjoy the various awesome pools! :S-

If this is your first time on Maui, definitely stay in one place. You can see everything daytripping with a car from Kaanapali.

May I suggest Kapalua? Very close to Kaanapali but quieter and away from the craziness.
West Maui is gorgeous -- there are terrific beaches all over the place. Snorkel Black Rock (near the Sheraton). |
For a honeymoon, if you're going to pay the prices at places like the Grand Wailea or Kapalua, you should really consider the Four Seasons Maui. Large rooms with ocean views, incomparable service and great food. You won't get all three at either Grand Wailea or Kapalua. You might never want to leave the Resort but it's your honeymoon after all.

I'd recommend the Four Seasons in Wailea as well. We stayed there on our honeymoon in March 2001. It was incredible and the best hotel experience I've ever had. The service and the room was beyond words.

Another vote for the Four Seasons. And I agree almost word for word the prior two posters....wonderful experience!
