Matanuska glacier evening hike?

We want to hike the glacier and the tour providers (MICA) offer an evening trek starting at 6pm. Has anyone done this at night? Is it very cold or would it be better to do the hike during the day with the sun out?

When are you going? 6 pm is not at night in May, June, July and August. The sun is still out until around 10 pm and much later in June. Very nice hike.

great hike. it is quite light out in the summer in alaska i was there for summer soltice and it didn't get dark, at midnight it was like dusk. it is cold on the glacier, any sun might make it a little warmer. but if you are going in summer. 6pm is fine light wise.

Agree, depends on WHEN you are going. I did a trek that lasted close to 5 hours with a private guide- just excellent. :)

Thanks everyone for the reply. Planning to go in late July -- and was thinking it might be nice to have an evening activity for a change of pace.
