Maryland/PA information
I prev. posted in the PA section but wanted to also post in Maryland.

Going from NY area by public transportation to Hagerstown Md/Greencastle Pa area. Thinking of taking the Amtrak to Baltimore and Greyhound to Hagerstown.

Does this sound the correct way to go (easiest)? Hoping some of the Maryland community might be able to help me.

Thank you.

Sounds about right to me. You aren't going to get closer by Amtrak than Baltimore. Another option would be to pick up a rental car in Baltimore and cut over to 70 to Frederick and then Hagerstown and then head north.

Thank you, but I don't drive that is why I need public transport. Thank you for your input.

Another option you might look into is that there is a train that crosses PA from Philadelphia to Harrisburg or maybe all the way to Pittsburgh. You could take it from Philly to the closest stop north of Greencastle and see if there is a bus heading south.

AmTrak does go to Harrisburg, PA from New York, but it looks as though Greyhound connections from Baltimore to Hagerstown are better than from Harrisburg to Hagerstown. Greencastle is about 30 minutes from the Hagerstown bus station, but there is no public transportation that goes to Greencastle. You might be able to find a taxi service in Hagerstown that could get you to Greencastle.
