Martha's Vineyard, Newport, Providence Recos
 

I will be leaveing on Saturday for 4 nights in MV, 2 nights Newport RI and 2 nights Providence RI. Anyone have any restaurant recommendations? TIA.

The Black Pearl at Bannister's Wharf in Newport, RI was very good. Great potato salad that comes with sandwiches and great chowder. They have a waterside patio seating area as well as indoor seating. Right in the bustle of the sights, "nice eat" if you're out and about by the water. www.blackpearlnewport.com

In Newport:

White Horse Tavern (www.whitehorsetavern.com) is one of the oldest tavern buildings in the country, if you like history with your dinner.

Christie's Wharf, good seafood, inside and outside dining right on the harbor.

Salas' on Thames St. Very casual Italian and seafood. The New England Clam Boil special (w/lobster) is a favorite.

Black Pearl for excellent chowder.

In Providence: just head to Federal Hill (Atwells Ave - Providence's Little Italy) You can't go wrong with the Italian restaurants there.

On MVY: The BYO Homeport in Menemsha is a must (even though it has become exhorbinant), Chescas in Edgartown (make sure to have pre-dinner drink on a porch rocking chair), and Bittersweet and Lambert's Cove Country Inn in West Tisbury.

In Newport, Le Bistro and the Clarke Cookehouse/Candy Store at Bannister's Wharf are both great, with the former being more crowded. The White Horse is a classic. For cozy and romantic French in a old house away from the crowds, try Le Petite Auberge. For ultra casual seafood, Dry Dock is good. Several of these restaurants have websites with menus. Have fun!
