Martha's Vineyard in October
I'm planning a girls trip to Martha's Vineyard in mid-October. I realize this is after "season" but is there still stuff to see and do? shopping? ferries from the cape?
Thank for your suggestions.
Jen

Topping, cuz I'm interested too.

Yes, there is still lots to do and the weather will be lovely, cool and crisp. It will be slower than the summer, of course.

Yes, MV is fabulous in October. The Island Queen (ferry) from Falmouth stops sometime soon after Labor Day but the Ferry from Woods Hole runs year round, so no worries about getting over there. While many shops and restaurants are seasonal, more and more places are staying open late into the fall...Don't miss a trip up-island to Aquinnah while you are there. Hope you enjoy your trip -- it is a very special place!

CVA

One thing that always attracts me to MV in the fall is that the beaches that are open to residents only in the summer are now open to the public. Even though the weather doesn't warrant a bikini, on a sunny day, its often warm enough for shirt sleeves. Its perfect for a long walk or a nice picnic. My favorites are Lucy Vincent beach and Lambert Cove beach.
Also good at this time of the year is bike riding, as the roads are significantly less crowded, the temps are comfortable for exercise, and the foliage can be beautiful.
